two lovers rested in a tender embrace for more than 6,000 years before being discovered in the ancient village of valdaro, italy in 2007. certainly their hut was filled with love. imagine a worn oak table riddled with stacks of cherished love letters thoughtfully scribed with lampblack ink on aged papyrus. a lit tallow candle illuminates last nights’ feast of carob “chocolate” truffles. underneath their wool bedding, they reach for each other and intertwine- an attempt to generate warmth in the frigid mid-winter air. today, they are still locked in their embrace, encased by a block of earth, a testament to everlasting love.
